Buyer Beware
Overall, I am very disappointed in Boutwell Farms and wish I had seen these reviews prior to placing an order. I spoke with Melissa on the phone personally several times before placing an order. She was always quick to respond by email or phone and pleasant to deal with. I paid the invoice that I was sent promptly because I felt comfortable through our conversations. However, when the date came for the delivery I did not receive a phone call saying it wouldn't happen nor was I able to contact anyone at Boutwell Farms. I attempted to call for 7 days post-scheduled delivery date with no response. My husband called and left a message stating he would take legal action (file a police report in their respective county) if he did not hear from them. We received a phone call back within minutes after that stating that, like previous reviewers, her husband was in the hospital and that I would need to go through Amazon to get my money back. I filed a dispute with Amazon stating that I didn't receive product I had paid for. The representative at Amazon stated that he doesn't like sellers like this because there is no need to get Amazon involved. They can simply log in to Amazon and pull up the transaction and issue an immediate refund. Unfortunately I can't comment on product quality because there was none to be reviewed.
Where's the Beef?
Oh I wish I read these reviews. I placed in order Feb 2012, paid $1,100 and now can't get a hold of them. They are not returning calls or emails. I got another number from the City for Melissa Boutwell. Her number is . I will call the police if they do not resolve this matter. Sounds like a basic scam. DO NOT BUY FROM THEM.
Sad but true reviews
So much potential but I have had the same experience as the other reviewers. Nothing going right and lots of promises. I wanted to support local farmers and was looking forward to better meats. Missing part of the hog and cancelled my deposit on a side of beef due to no communication in person.
Sorry but can not recommend this farm. Would love to find a reliable source if someone has had good experience somewhere?
wish I'd seen these reviews first...
On Aug 10 I paid for a half hog. When my email of questions on various cuts was ignored I got suspicious. When the initial delivery date was a no show I got mad. E-mails & phone calls are ignored. I filed a claim/dispute with PayPal & will hopefully resolve this. Shame on me for not researching this farm a little more, but I figured if they supplied a restaurant they would act professional.
Ripped Off!
After speaking with Melissa and feeling really confident about the quality of their product, I placed an order for a whole hog. There was nothing but chaos surrounding the delivery as she was always having some family medical crisis. After getting five boxes of product delivered via two day shipping to FL when it was hot, I had the majority of my order. Imagine my shock when I opened boxes and boxes of pork chops. Barely any roasts, ribs, or anything near what I expected according to cut sheets on other sites. I also did not even get the minimum weight promised. I sent letters, called, and got excuses. Then eventually she figured I would go away and that is fine I will go away, but I will make sure to post everywhere and report them to the BBB and any other organization that will let me report them. I paid a great deal of money for substandard cuts. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS FARM.
Somethings going on wishing for closure
Something is going on. I had been purchasing from Boutwells for almost a year. We purchased a beef sampler pack, pork sampler pack, 20 pack of ground beef, a half pork and finally a quarter cow. Everything had been delivered in the past except the quarter cow. We paid $700 and even paid for shipping because I knew their family was having personal problems. Like others, I left phone messages and email requests asking for a refund. There has been no response. I feel really bad because their products were excellent and did not want to add stress at their time of troubles. But they need to have resolution with their customers. Has anyone contacted the restaurant that they reference on their website. I would think that would be their bread and butter and would have more information that what we are able to post here.
BBB Rating F
As previous users have stated there is no response from emails, phone calls. When they said they are going to deliver they do not show up. When they do show up they do not have the order right. I have been trying since Sept to get steaks. I gave them a week and told them I would contact BBB. Doesn't even matter, they don't answer the BBB request. Don't know how they stay in business!!!
Beware
Like the last reviewer, I'm having issues getting my last order with Boutwell resolved.
We paid just over $200 on 22 October hoping for our meat in November (based on the previous order, we knew they do not stick to their delivery schedule). Since then, we've received the run-around. They will not answer the phone, email responses are slow if they are to be had at all, and now, the website has been pulled down. We have made repeated attempts to be in contact with the farm and have even offered to go to them to pick up our product. Several times we were told they were going to deliver, only to be left waiting. Each time, there was a new excuse. On 15 December, I finally emailed and asked for a refund. I was told it would be issued and nothing has happened since. Now, emails and phone calls are not being answered.
This wasn't our first order with the farm. The last one was rather shaky as well, but it eventually was delivered.
All communications with the farm have been initiated by us, never by the farm.
Won't deliver or respond to email or phone
Paid almost 700 dollars for beef and delivery in November. They said they could not deliver in November because of health problems. Promised to ship on the 28th of December. Still haven't shipped. Will not answer phone calls or email. Using paypal to try and get my money back. Not sure what is going on here, but I've placed my last order with this outfit. If they are having problems delivering the least they could do is to communicate this to their customers and offer a refund.
