Located in Clinton, Missouri since 1993, Thomason Ranch is owned and operated by the Thomason Family. Whether it’s producing top quality genetics or premium quality grass fed beef, at Thomason Ranch our family cares about the products we produce, that is why we take a little different approach to producing our quality beef products. Our number one focus is on the health of the animal along with the animals quality of life. We believe a healthy, low stress animal will produce a much better beef product.
At Thomason Ranch our family cares about yours, that is why we take a little different approach to producing our quality forage fed beef products. Our goal is to produce a completely healthy animal that can be processed into a great tasting high select or choice beef product. Based on studies done by the University of Missouri and the University of Kentucky “Conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA) is a fatty acid that is believed to have merit in protection against cancer, diabetes, heart disease, and obesity. Beef from cattle finished on pasture has been shown to contain elevated levels of CLA compared to feedlot finished cattle. Studies in Missouri and elsewhere have shown these levels to be roughly 3-5 times greater than in feedlot finished cattle. Ruminants (cattle, sheep, and goats) are a unique source of CLA because of the specific biochemical reactions that take place in the rumen. Interestingly, studies in Missouri demonstrated that limited grain feeding (just under half the energy intake for the last 60 days) while on pasture did not significantly reduce these CLA levels (Martz et al 2007).2 So it may be that grain feeding by itself does not reduce CLA levels, but that removal from a pasture diet does.” It is important to finish cattle to a carcass grade of at least high select to insure adequate juiciness and tenderness of the resulting meat. Since the energy content of pasture may be highly variable throughout the growing season, a combination of pasture and limited grain feeding will generally result in a more consistent product compared to a pure forage-finished animal.” We want your family to enjoy a quality beef product that is not only good for your family but also balances all the features that makes beef great to eat. This is why we use a grain-on-grass finishing system to finish our forage fed Beef. All our beef is dry aged for 21 days and available for purchase in our online store. Because of the high cost associated with shipping we only service customers for local pickup or in a 100 mile radius unless other arrangements are made.
