Sequatchie Cove Farm is a 300 acre community farm located 35 miles from Chattanooga, TN. We are certified organic, certified biodynamic and certified humane.

How we raise our animals is very important to us.

Our animals spend their entire lives grazing in open pastures. They graze, scratch, root, and roam the way the animals were designed to. We use no pesticides, herbicides, chemical fertilizers, antibiotics or growth promoting hormones, just earth, water, compost, and careful management.

What We Produce

Sequatchie Cove Farm/Westmoreland Beef

In partnership with Westmoreland Farm, we raise beef on the pastures of east Tennessee. Our beef cows are able to roam freely, eating healthy grass and enjoying fresh air and sunshine.

Heritage Breed Milking Devons for Farmstead Cheese

We raise this beautiful breed of dairy cow on pasture throughout the entire year. The Devons are a very rare breed that produce a high quality milk for cheesemaking. Look for Sequatchie Cove Farm cheese to be available in summer of 2010.

Forested Heritage Breed Pork

Our heritage breed pork is raised in the woods surrounding our pastures. Free to roam and root around, our pigs live happily and naturally. They are fed a high quality, freshly-milled grain ration. The feed is conventionally grown and milled by a neighboring farmer here in the Sequatchie Valley. We also supplement their diet with nutritious whey from our cheese-making facility.

Pasture Raised Eggs

Our hens live and roam freely in our pastures, able to get plenty of grass and insects in their diet. This produces eggs high in beta carotene, contributing to their wonderfully bright orange yolks and amazing flavor. They are fed a high quality, freshly-milled grain ration. The feed is conventionally grown and milled by a neighboring farmer here in the Sequatchie Valley. We also supplement their diet with nutritious whey from our cheese-making facility.

Pick Your Own Berries (blueberries & blackberries by appointment only)

We raise our fruits using organic growing methods. U-pick berries are available at the farm from May-July. Call ahead for an appointment.

Seasonal Vegetables

Fresh vegetables are available throughout the growing season. We grow all of our vegetables using organic growing methods, adding fertility to the soil with nutrient-rich, living compost made here on the farm from our own animal manures. We are growing vegetables for a few local outlets in 2010, including the Main Street Farmer’s MarketGreenlife Grocery,  area restaurants, and our on-farm Trading Post.
