Dangers Of Genetically Modified Foods

Genetically modified foods have been creeping into our food supply right under our very noses.  In the United States, there are no laws requiring the labeling of genetically modified foods and the biotech companies want to keep it that way.  But you might be asking yourself, what's so bad about genetically modified foods? Aren't these biotech companies just using science to make our crops and farms more productive and disease resistant?

According to best selling author and genetically modified food expert Jeffrey M. Smith, eating genetically modified food is gambling with every bite.  Smith links geneticaly modified organisms (GMO) to toxins, allergies, infertility, infant mortality, immune dysfunction, stunted growth, and death.  Not only are GMOs a threat to our health, they are an even greater threat to the environment.

The video below features a keynote speech made by expert Jeffrey M. Smith at the Weston A Price Foundation conference in November of 2008.  I wouldn't normally post such a long video, but it is a truly eye opening overview of everything YOU HAVE TO KNOW about the dangers of Genetically Modified Foods.

According to the Institute for Responsible Technology, derivative ingredients from the 4 major genetically modified crops (soy, corn, canola and cotton), are found in 60-70% of foods in US grocery stores.  You might feel like there is nothing you can do about Genetically Modified Foods but that's just not true.

The voice of the consumer is a powerful tool.  In the European Union, consumers convinced nearly all the major manufacturers to publicly commit to stop using GM ingredients in their European brands.  Please follow this link to find out how you can support the Campaign For Healthier Eating In America. "Together, we can reach the tipping point and push GMOs out of the entire food supply, protecting our health, the health of future generations and accelerate the move towards a more sustainable agriculture system."

Jeffrey M. Smith's books shatter the biotech industry's claim that genetically modified foods are safe.  His ground breaking book, the Seeds of Deception is the world’s best-selling book on genetically engineered foods and is a number one best seller.

His latest book, Genetic Roulette, documents  nearly forty health risks from the foods that Americans eat every day.  The information is presented in an easy-to-read format and the second half of the book explores why children are most at risk, how to avoid GM foods, and how industry research is rigged to avoid finding problems with GM Foods.

GM crops are not needed to feed the world, but the biotech companies want you to believe different. The risks are great and we must educate ourselves about the risks and band together so the voice of the consumer can be heard.

Let your voice be heard and spread the word to support sustainable farming practices.
